The Atkinson bring together a unique range of activities in one building – theatre, music, dance, cinema, exhibitions, museum displays, retail and catering; as well as literacy development, People’s Network and Job Club.   We want to rethink how we use our collections and programmes to connect with people’s lives and impact more fully on wellbeing.  We also want to think differently about the conversations and the interactions we have with our visitors, users and customers.  The opportunity to become an Affiliate of the Happy Museum programme could not have come at a better time.  It will be a ‘safe space’ where we can test new ways of engaging people; making collections and activities relevant; be challenged and supported to create a cultural environment that makes people feel valued.
