Children from five Oxford primary schools made masks for a Lottery-funded project, Make Me Smile, which showed how happiness can be expressed in many different ways.

The Story Museum was delighted to open its doors to the public when local charity One-Eighty brought the exhibition to our Story Exchange space for three days, from 22-24 November.

Using a picture book The Huge Bag of Worries as their starting point, the children had been encouraged to talk about things that were troubling them. By sharing their worries in the safe place of school they could see that they are not alone. Year Six students worked with younger children in Year Three to create the colourful artworks, made out of buttons, feathers and foam.

It was great to see the happy faces that the children had made ? it certainly made us smile, as well as the children’s friends, families and other visitors.
